Gear Stick

Who is this for, and what you'll learn

Are you traveling abroad and just realized automatic cars are way pricier to rent?

Are you a sports car enthusiast looking to buy or try stick shift?

Do you just want to add another skill to your (already impressive) list of skills?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you're in the right place. We teach you regardless of your motivation and experience level driving stick. In fact, most students have never driven stick before coming to us, and they still leave the lesson confident that they'll have no trouble driving in a new country or driving home that manual compact car that just showed up in the dealership.

This is what and how we teach

What we teach:

- important concepts on driving stick and functions of the clutch and the gear selector
- driving smoothly with a stick shift (how to use the clutch, gas and gear selector so you can drive effortlessly just like an automatic)
- reversing techniques
- hill techniques so you don't roll back

- advanced tips on defensive driving with a stick shift

How we teach:

We will start from the basics. Typically, a lesson goes like this:

- explanation of the techniques you will learn

- brief demonstration session so you can see the techniques in practice

- you take the wheel and practice while the instructor provides feedback

- We provide up to 4 hours of instruction, but typically lessons last ~2.5 hours. Fast learners have done in less than 2 hours, while other students appreciate the extra time to practice.
